Grim Tales for Fantasy?

Angel Tarragon

Dawn Dragon
I've tried on at least three different ocassions to recruit in the pbp forums for a GT fantasy game. Each time, never genearting enough interest. IS GT even a good choice for fantasy roleplaying?

I've had good experiences with PA and and Horror games, but ever since I lost my group, I've been joesing to GM a a game of GT fantasy.

Well, obviously I think it's a good choice.

I'm not sure PbP is the best choice for fantasy, though. ;)

Yes

I would LOVE a GT Fantasy campaign. However, I'm more of a high-fantasy role-players, so I've been trying for some time to figure the best way to stick 3.x SRD magic system into GT with little success :(

I sold all of my D&D 3.5 core books except for the MM and kept GT, specifically because it is great for the kind of low-magic fantasy that I prefer.

Ack. Have we lost you to 4E?

No, I just got laid off from work and had to sell large swaths of my game collection to make ends meet. What I kept were books that had the ability to cover a lot of ground, genre-wise. What I got rid of was the very genre and/or setting-specifc stuff.

Isn't the only adventure [path?] released for it a fantasy one?

I would've thought it'd be fine for fantasy. Never tried it myself, as is, for anything, but it looks perfectly usable for that, or nearly anything else.

Maybe it's just that not enough people are familiar with the rules, or own the books. Or not enough that also might be available for PbP. Because, IIRC, it's been one of the most well-received d20/OGL games, for some time.

It was never reprinted to the best of my knowledge, nor is the whole book available as a PDF, both realities that make it a pretty poor choice for PBP or PBEM (where pretty much every player needs their own copy of the rules to follow along).
