Grim Tales: Mythic Heroes Rocks!

Old One

First Post
Picked up Grim Tales: Mythic Heroes yesterday and had a chance to give it a first read today...

VERY impressed!

As a big fan of low(er) magic games, I have to say that Wulf has come through again with a crunch-packed PDF. Looking foward to using this "in action" at the next NC Game Day.

If you like action points, legendary archetypes and cool/creative rules applications, do yourself a favor and pick this up!

Glad you like it.

We will be using it for our PbP.

If you have a second, reviews are always appreciated.

Wulf,

I was going to write a review...but Kajamba Lion literally said virtually everything I was going to say. I did post a comment under his review.

I would be happy to write a separate one...but I don't think I could offer much more than "kewl" ;)!

Since I have you....

I wanted to see about getting permission print and chop the PDF for my upcoming GT/BCCS game at NC Game Day. Each of the PCs is 10th level, and I basically wanted to print the Mythic Levels for each player and snip the first 10 for a handout. I plan to collect them back up after the game.

The expansion on the skills at the back is brilliance...you da man. One question I do have is - do you have any suggestions for "Learn a New Spell" benefit under The Oracle if I end up using the BCCS rules? My initial idea was just to provide another BCCS Talent (Spell) for each occurence. Alternatively, I was looking at allowing them to pick a Talent already known and provide a +5 (or better) bonus to the Magic Use Skill for that spell.

Thoughts/comments?

Well, if you picked it up at RGPnow, any review, no matter how brief, is fine.

Go for it.

No, Mike Mearls is da man. It's (mostly) from Iron Heroes.

Ahh, sorry. Just not familiar enough with BCCS. I have faith in you!

In reverse order...

Thanks and I picked it up from EN World Gamestore (first purchase here).

Hey everyone! Can anyone tell me how Mythic Heroes differs from Grim Tales? I already have & like Grim Tales. What advantages would it be to have both. Thanks Maester Luwin

ML,

You can download a demo here: Mythic Heroes Demo

It doesn't really "differ" from GT...it just expands and enhances options, particularly in the action point arena and creates a mythic archetype "template" that is placed on each of the heros. These templates provide extra power bumps very useful in low(er) magic and/or heroic games.

The demo has enough of a teaser to spell it out. Also, Wulf details more in this thread: Mythic Heroes Discussion

Hope that helps!
