GR's Advanced Bestiary

Which ones and with what books?

Joe- I really am not good at writing anything at length and the review would only be 4-5 short paragraphs long. If I tried to make it any longer, I would start to ramble and get off topic. :\

That's okay. Trust me, I've gotten more than my share of "Hey, I like the review but could it have been a little, oh I don't know... shorter" e-mails. People playing and using their games are what the database is for after all. :D

Chris Pramas stopped by the Behemoth3 booth at So Cal and I tried to give him a set of our Horde Books out of sheer fannish enthusiasm for all things Green Ronin. Being a gentleman, he said he'd rather trade for them than get them for free, so I swapped for a copy of the Advanced Bestiary. It's chock full of monstery goodness, with nice designer's notes about how to apply the templates, great illustrations, and 100% open content. Very cool!

I just picked this up the other day. One big book o'templates, some look useful, some maybe not, depending on the campaign. LOTS of "dread" undead, but each has a sidebar on how to make a "non-dread" version, a nice feature. Some look potentially unbalanced, but I haven't had a chance to actually try them out yet, so like the Mystic Thaumaturge they may not be as uber in actual play as they first appear on paper.
