[QUOTE="Set, post: 3424146, member: 41584"] Before Sehanine 'Moonbow' was invented, Labelas Enorath (and Corellon himself) filled the roles she's claimed. It would be possible for Labelas to step up and take the reins for a time, as the elven diety of continuance and inevitability. After a certain respectful period of somber mourning (and, yes, bloody retribution), a more light-hearted (or savage, depending on how the elves as a people are changed) diety could step up. Hanali, in the case of elves who rediscover joy and hope, or Solonor, for those who turn more militant and unforgiving. The Elves could even have a split over this, with the vengeance-seekers and 'defense of the realm' set being Solonoran, while the 'let's not forget what makes us elves!' faction being Hanilan, each regarding the other as 'missing the point.' Rillifane Rallithil is also a strong elven presence, and could move into that sort of role as well, providing a haven for any of the elven population who see this great loss as a sign that they should retreat further from the 'civilized world' and the other races, and return to their pure unsullied roots as creatures of the wild. It would certainly fit the chaotic nature of the elves for them to factionalize this way, with some retreating to the deep woods (and Rillifane), others forming a defensive and reactionary protectionist military-state (under Solonor) and yet others trying to recapture what they consider to be the Elven soul, regaining their sense of hope and love and joy (under Hanali). But, ideally, I don't see the Seldarine as *wanting* to 'replace' their parent Corellon (who, again, before Sehanine showed up and claimed to be Corellon's wife and everyone else's mommy, was actually supposed to be father *and* mother to the other Seldarine...). Instead, they'd best honor his memory by not replacing him, but continuing to work together informally, as they always had, even under his 'rule,' according to the write ups. (Which tend to describe no real 'orders' being given among the Seldarine, them all just 'knowing' what needs to be done and getting together, seemingly spontaneously, and doing it.) If Sehanine does exist in your setting, she's been described in both Greyhawk and Realms products as attempting to usurp Corellon's role as elven creator-god, and as oppressing other elven faiths (and non-elven faiths and populations even more so), so it's entirely in-character for her to take ruthless advantage of her husband's unfortunate 'accident' and attempt to seize power. Heck, you could make her the 'black widow,' and have her providing Gruumsh a behind-the-scenes hand, or bit of choice info, hoping to 'make an opportunity' to crack that glass ceiling she's run into.
