GTM #68 Giveaway: City of Heroes CCG City of Heroes . City of Tomorrow . Since 1931, when a prodigal son returned with the powers of an ancient god and called himself Statesman, Paragon City has been the center of the super-powered hero universe. Through the efforts of Statesman and those who joined him in the war against tyranny and crime, Paragon City truly became a beacon and inspiration for heroes world-wide. A true city of heroes. But, all that came to a disastrous halt on May 23, 2002 when aliens known as the Rikti invaded the earth and began their war of mass extermination. Every major city in the world was attacked, but none were more devastated than Paragon City . It was here that thousands of heroes and civilians made their last stand! In the aftermath of the war, Paragon City, like much of the cities of the world, lay in ruins. With most of the city's heroes dead or missing, crime and corruption seized the opportunity to fill the hero-less vacuum. Gangs of criminals — some reemerging from decades of hiding, many new and horrifying in their methods — began to take control of the city's war torn zones. Amidst this sudden influx of lawlessness, Statesman made a call to the world's surviving and newly found heroes: “Come to Paragon City 's aid!” Such is the story behind City of Heroes, the popular computer game and Massively Multiplayer RPG online world! Now, players can take their heroic endeavors beyond the virtual arena and into an exciting new dimension of play with AEG’s super-powered CCG based on the City of Heroes universe, as players build their heroes and duke it out against their opponents in their quest for the title of "Top Hero” in Paragon City! Boasting illustrated works by Top Cow Productions (the visionaries behind the Witchblade, Tomb Raider, and the City of Heroes comic adaptations) this CCG is featured in 25-card "Battle Packs" containing a randomized Hero, their signature powers, and a special assortment of cards, as well as supplemental 11-card boosters. To herald this exciting undertaking, the merry mutants at AEG are conjuring up a complete set of the City of Heroes CCG — that’s 330 cards chock full of glorious goodness for one heroic GTM reader! But, you don’t need the proportionate strength of a spider, or lay claim to being the sole survivor of a devastated, alien planet to get in on the winnings. Just dust off your cape, don your garish tights, practice your fearless posturing, and fly the enclosed entry form to us by the official deadline for your chance to be the envy of your super-hero peers! Check out our website (www.gametrademagazine.com) for more details and to enter online. Or, pick up a copy of GTM #68 from your local retailer to access the official entry form.
