*my ears are burning* Haven't been paying attention to this thread since I've got a baby due any day now. Alas, I wish I could be down for this game day. I'm afraid I'm going to have to wait for the spring NC game day, or maybe the winter one if I'm lucky. But I am always willing to help out with Risus. First off, check out Risus Mystery Men. It's a great site that is totally perfect for what the type of game that you want to run. It doesn't have much in the way of help as far as *playing* the game, but the characters and adventure ideas are wonderful. Next, I *highly* recommend the Risus Companion. I didn't really "get" Risus until I saw the Companion. It has tons of great tips for running a Risus game, as well as loads of useful bits for other game-mastering in general. ANother great resource is Risustalk over at Yahoo groups. It's been pretty active as of late, with some excellent rules discussions. People are polite and respectful of the different ways people play. Moreover, they're always willing to help answer questions about how to run Risus. Finally, I offer up my my own Silverlode 1908. I have a slightly different spin on the combat rules that works very well for me, but that's mostly because I run a semi-serious game. For your game, the standard Risus rules would be just fine. The Inappropriate cliche rules are what will really make your game zing. I will be glad to help with any questions you have in particular.
