Also functions as a kind of low-grade Feather Fall if you know the fall is coming. E.g. falling out of a spelljamming ship, where you don't hit the ground for several minutes. Notice that these two spells combo well. Sure you can maybe endure 5d10 damage every day, under normal circumstances, but how long can you do it while nightmarish mouths in your dreams prevent you from getting a good rest? Additionally, the fact that Geas charms a creature long-term with no concentration cost (or somatic components) has some defensive applications. The charm doesn't end if you harm the creature, so you could Geas a creature with anything ("Vampire, mop this floor!") and then just mock it to death with Vicious Mockery for doing a bad job at the Geased task. Even if it just eats the 5d10 it still can't harm you while you mock it. One thing worth noting about Major Illusion is that when you cast Major Illusion VI, it is permanent, and you can resume control of any pre-cast illusion just by coming back within range. This could be used to fill your lair with illusionary walls, or even illusionary Iron Golems which come to life when you require them. Probably better for villains than for PCs but useful to either really. :) True for NPCs, but demons and dragons tend to have Int as a weak save.
