GUN: The new Rated "M" western game sucks! Looked so cool in the TV commercials... The "story" is so cliche it hurts. The graphics ain't that great on the PS2.

Warning: If you're over 30 with little ability to remember multi-button combo moves and move cursors around in a 3-D environment, do NOT rent or buy this game. I can't get past training mode. It's retarded. All I wanna do is meet some whores and shoot some dudes, LOL. The controls SUCK!!! :(

Too bad. I was hoping that it would be good; Westerns are a very under-utilized genre for video games. There are a gajillion games out there in sci-fi settings, fantasy settings, and modern-day Earth settings, but very few games set in the Old West. :(

EDIT: Actually, it looks like it's getting good reviews from many gaming sites, with most reviews being in the 80% - 90% range. This has convinced me to rent it and try it myself before I give up hope on it.

I could barely "master" the controls to shoot, and found the horse racing section of the training impossible to beat after five or six attempts. So straight in the trash it goes (this means back to Blockbuster as I don't buy console games just CRPGs, LOL). YMMV.

Darkwatch was a much better western-themed (horror) game; better graphics, better art, better story, better controls. That said, I had extreme difficulty in at least three places in the game, which had me screaming and smashing my fist on the table (not unlike my God of War experience, though GoW proved impossible for me to beat). Hours and hours of perseverance pulled me through, but I only invested it because the game was so cool otherwise. The difference between me beating Darkwatch and me giving up on God of War is that I cann always muddle my way through a combat eventually, but if it's traps... forget it.

Also, don't forget to try it out when it makes it to the PC version; I often find I cannot master controls on a Playstation or Xbox, but the same game plays very well for me with a keyboard and mouse! (All first-person shooters like Wolfenstein and Doom come under this category for me).
