[QUOTE="Aries_Omega, post: 3324693, member: 15693"] I don't mind gunpowder pistols nor do I hate them. I think it is silly that in a fantasy world that there would be a limit on what would be discovered. Someone would discover electricity because they didn't want to learn magic for example. I like Dragonstar for that reason. Then again in a realm where the laws of Newton mix with the laws of Merlin you have conflicts. In my world I explain that you will not find cannons really because a low level wizard or someone with UMD and a wand with a fire spell will RUIN your day. Same with ships....one spark and BOOM! In my world Gnomes invented the most efficent method versions of pistols. Kobold and Dwarves love a good explosion for mining. They are nice in combat for the sound but a good axe (or pick for a kobold) is more satisfying. Goblins love to have one to intimidate those bigger then them since most have a short man's complex. The disciplined Hobgoblins are actually pretty good formation rifleman. Firearms are all in all they are not in vogue, magic is still the best thing since gunpowder weapons are VERY expensive to buy and maintain. Plus wands don't worry about being rained on and not working. I say eventually things discovered in the real world will be invented in my fantasy world but not for a long time since magic is available and more people put stock into that rather then science.
