First Post
Everyone,
THE GAME:
I am currently GMing a 1920s Bureau 13 Horror Campaign online. We play every Monday starting at 7:30pm (Central Time Zone) til 11pm (11:30pm at the latest). The campaign is "realistic" style setting and includes magic, supernatural, psionics, vampires, cabals, plus whatever else the players want to introduce into the campaign (with my approval, of course!). The players are secret agents of Bureau 13, and tasked with seeking out the supernatural (and eliminating it if it is evil), during the Roaring Twenties.
THE REQUIREMENTS:
We use TeamSpeak (free) for voice communication. We use MapTools for the virtual table and Dice Rolls (an awesome, open source free program!). You don't need to buy anything for online play since the software we use is free (and powerful). I highly encourage you have GURPS Character Assistant, plus the Basic Set, but this is not required.
THE CAMPAIGN:
To give you an idea of my campaign, we have had 13 game sessions already. The first "adventure" took place in France during the Great War (World War One). It was designed to introduce the players to GURPs and MapTools as well as including elements of Cthulhu Mythos. The next adventures the players created Bureau agents to hunt down the supernatural. They have confronted vampires, werewolves, evil spirits, etc...
THE CAST
Some of the PCs in the campaign:
Earl Martin - WWI veteran of the first adventures. He is the "Team Leader" of Team Chicago (which only means he gets in trouble when the other guys screw up...). His "cover" job is a rum runner on the Great Lakes. Earl has the ability to sometimes detect magical auras and such (Magery 0).
Doug Diamond - A private investigator who encountered the supernatural and is now a Bureau agent with Team Chicago. He has no "known" supernatural powers except possibly a danger sense. Think Sam Spade with Danger Sense.
Claudia Zervakos - A university teacher who is a member of Team Chicago. A brilliant woman who is looking for her missing father (he was involved in things man was not meant to know). She has several minor spells at her disposal, which might not seem very powerful but the player uses them in unique and effective ways.
Alex Massey - A former "magician" in a traveling circus, Alex is now a member of Team Chicago. The circus was also a front for criminal activity which Alex was involved in. He has now seen the error of his ways and is a Bureau Agent in good standing. He has the supernatural ability to telekinetically move objects with his mind and the circus owner is after Alex for some unknown reason (which may be revealed in a future adventure).
THE FINAL THOUGHTS
Anyways, that should give you an idea of the type of game it is. We just lost a couple of players, and need a few more. The game flows pretty fast (I encourage faster play). My games are more focused on role playing. I make the problem (adventure), but not the solution (that's up to the players). I enjoy seeing the players come up with unique methods of dealing with the supernatural and they role play pretty good. Most of us are in our thirties, but that's not a requirement.
