I know! I know! It was that thing about 'constructive criticism'. It has those ' thingies around it, that's it, right? Right? What I don't understand (well, beside russian, I can't even read that), is that people always have to create way-out-there races just to be unique. You can create a unique character without mix-matching some mortal enemies into one race. You don't need the one-of-a-million alignment exception character (like LG Succubus), either. You don't even need the unlikely class/race or class/class combo (like Half-Orc Bard, Sun Elf Barbarian, or Druid/Paladin). You can create a unique character with the "normal" combinations, and you can do that even without creating a cliché-character (actually, dual-scimitar-wielding drow or the by now overused elf/orc crossbreeds are far worse cliché's than any halfling rogue or elven wizard can ever be). What does that have to do with it? If anything, a Tolkien fan will be even more disgusted by that idea, since there ALL orcs are evil, and no elf would ever side with and orc, even the evil ones. Se my comments about unique character. That has nothing to do with rules (by the rules, you can create half red-dragon trolls), it has to do with credibility of a world (I don't care whether it's a powergamer's race, as long as the level adjustment's right) And when you're posting at this forum, you're just another member, like most of us (some are community supporters, mods or even admin). I have drow and players of normal races in one party, and they don't seem overpowered. Being 2 levels behind is quite a setback, even with +2 Int, +2 Dex and SR! Drow have Eilistraee. Plus, a good drow can hide in drow society (as Drizzt has proven, and a couple of other characters, too). There are no gods for the elforcs, and they cannot hide what they are. The word "generally" isn't one I would apply to the humans of Toril. Especially the nomadic moon elves are accepted in quite a lot of regions (practically in all Chondath). I'm not so familiar with Grayhawk, but I doubt it's lousy, and for D&D, it serves its purpose. Funnily enough, Faerûn has the same tales about elf-orc strife than the general D&D setting (IMO even more so, since the story about the fight between Corellon and Gruumsh is detailed in FR novells and RPG products) Why, the FR, which you so highly praise, depict Lord Ao as very passive. He never tinkers with the fates of single mortals (after the ToT, some Waterdhavians started a cult of Ao, but they gave it up after he didn't grant them spells) and only tinkers with the gods if they don't behave in accordance to their portfolio. And since it practically is in their portfolios to hate each other, he won't stop some elven or orc deities who prevent such an union. The +1 lvl may make them balanced in respect to the rules, but that does not explain why such a union was possible in the first place, or why that infant saw dawn more than once. They need to be balanced. To have a good side more powerful than that of the "workbench race" means that you have to have a downside to balance it up. You could let every character start up with two feats at 1st level, and that would be OK if humans had 3 feats at 1st, since everything would be in relative balance then. That's a blessing, considering your tone. It is. Hundreds of members that are happy with it prove that. But, then, they know how to behave (the ones that came here trolling often don't last long) Seeking to keep the balance isn't ruleslawyering, and trying to keep the game credible isn't either. Good riddance, I say. As soon as you have learned how to behave properly, you can gladly come back. But 'till now all you did here was trolling, while people like Hypersmurf have actually contributed to the community here.
