I know that creating a half-orc wizard isn't the best choice, but just for fun, I have created some racial substitution levels for this race/class combo in the style of those in the Races of ... books. Let me know what you guys think. Description: Half-orc wizards are extremely rare, but they do exist. Although they do not train with any additional weapons, half-orc wizards are often stonger and hardier than their human counterparts, and are more likely to engage foes in meele combat. Most favor the quarterstaff, as this weapon allows them to take advantage of their natural strength. The half-orc wizard racial substitution levels trade a small amount of magical power for greater meele abilities, especially with the quarterstaff. Game stats: Half-orc wizard racial substitution levels have d6 HD, 2 skill points/level, and the same class skills as the standard wizard, except they lose Decipher Script, and gain Intimidate. Substitution levels: 1) A half-orc wizard who takes the the first-level wizard racial substitution level gains the following bonus feats, even if he does not meet the prerequisites: weapon focus (quarterstaff), combat casting, and improved toughness (from Complete Warrior). These feats replace his ability to gain a familar, as well as the scribe scroll bonus feat normally gained by 1st-level wizards. 5) A half-orc wizard who takes the the fifth-level wizard racial substitution level gains the ability to deliver touch spells via a meele attack with his quarterstaff. If the quarterstaff hits, then the touch spell affects the target as if the wizard had made a normal touch attack. This attack may even be made on the same round as the touch spell was cast, assuming that a normal touch attack would be allowed at this point. If the half-orc wizard chooses to deliver a touch attack in this matter, then he must hit the target's normal AC instead of his touch AC, however. This ability replaces the bonus metamagic feat normally gained by a fifth-level wizard. 8) A half-orc wizard who takes the the eighth-level wizard racial substitution level gains the two-weapon fighting feat, even if he does not meat the prerequisites for this feat (note that a quarterstaff is a double weapon which may be used with this feat). This ability replaces the 2nd-level spell that an eighth-level wizard would normally gain at this level. From now on, the wizard can cast one less 2nd-level spell per day than a wizard of his level would normally be allowed to cast. Notes: Some good additional feats for such a character to suvive better in meele would be dodge, combat expertise, two-weapon defense, and quick staff. With these, such a character could take a -1 on attack rolls to gain a +5 bonus to AC. Not too shabby.
