Message: <blockquote data-quote="Dark Jezter" data-source="post: 329095" data-attributes="member: 1015">That's why I like the setting of the Warcraft computer games so much, it deviates from the traditional fantasy cliches concerning orcs.  Just a warning, this post will contain Warcraft III spoilers, so if you haven't played the game yet you might want to skip this one.Traditionally in fantasy settings, orcs have been portrayed as brainless, violent thugs who delight only in killing.  In Warcraft III, however, the orcs used to be the slaves of a demon army known as the Burning Legion.  Now that they are free, the orcs are returning to the way they were a long time ago; a noble, shamanistic culture that knows little corruption or strife.Another fantasy cliche is that the elves have always been portrayed as fair and noble defenders of everything that is good in the world.  In Warcraft III, however, the haughty and proud elves withdraw from their alliance with the human and dwarf kingdoms.  This comes back to bite them, however, when they are attacked by a legion of undead known as the Scourge.  As a result, their entire kingdom is overwhelmed, and the only elves who manage to survive are the ones who stayed with the humans and dwarves.So, as you can probably expect, I'm very excited for Warcraft D20. <img src="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/joypixels/assets/8.0/png/unicode/64/1f600.png" class="smilie smilie--emoji" loading="lazy" width="64" height="64" alt=":D" title="Big grin    :D"  data-smilie="8"data-shortname=":D" /></blockquote>
