I think Zulkir, A. Valterra's (WOTC Category Manager) Birthday is coming up on 1/13. So I wanted to say Happy Birthday to my old boss. Was he a good boss? Absolutely, he didn't micro-manage and I believed in his goals for the business. His goals, "for the majority" were in line with the Corporation and the Industry as a whole. Q. Who the hell is this? A. Well, I'm Peter K, formerly Prodigy@Wizards.com, Associate Business Manager for RPGS, E-Tools, and Avalon Hill. Q . Where the hell have you been? A. Well since I was separated from Wizards in 4Q 2002, I promised myself a moratorium on public statements about my former employer until 2004. There was a lot of turmoil with the company and a lot of public backlash and ill will from displaced employees. I didn't want to add to the static, I thought it un-couth, and with flaring tempers it could have escalated to a nasty war. A. Why bother coming out now? Q. My name seems to appear on a few WotC Products that I wish could magically disappear. I have been waiting to finally seek absolution and offer up some insight. I will NOT be divulging any Sensitive or Confidential Information that would be pertinent to the stated employer. I will be abiding by all agreed upon clauses reflecting my separation from WotC. A. So what do you have the Scoop On? Q. I am the man that finally said to Ryan Dancey, Keith Strohm, Lisa, and Jim... that there was no way they were ever going to see any black ink on a specific Science Fiction Line. All in all, having to dredge Master Tools, Repackage Risk 2210, D&D DOwnloads, and being handed a doomed business model and asked to make it fly, then also having it ripped out of my hands and passed around as a political move, I had a few intersting days. Oh yeah and the Oriental Adventures debacles, thats a Anti-Defamation League article on its own. Ask some reasonable questions and you may get a reasonable answer. I'll offer up my absolution for E-tools after I get my notes straight.
