I bought my father a new set of dice for his birthday today... which happened to be a game session.
Our first level party ran into a drow priestess and a couple of drow lackeys; she was casting Animate Dead at the time. (At least 5th level, then? Oh, goody.)
I get the impression she was supposed to be a major opponent.
Dad's Barbarian Raged and charged.
Dad: "Ooh - natural 20! Does AC 21..."
Me: "Bardic music."
Dad: "... AC 22 confirm?"
DM: "... yes
"
Dad: "So that's 3d12+21..."
Me: "Bardic music."
Dad: "... +27 damage. 10, 6, 8, that's... 51. ... oh, and this axe is magical, right? So three times whatever the enhancement bonus is."
We're guessing +1, so that's 54 points to the 5th (?) level cleric from the first level PC. She went down hard.
