Message: <blockquote data-quote="Dannyalcatraz" data-source="post: 9192534" data-attributes="member: 19675">Catching y’all up:First week of October, Dad finally got COVID.  He was up-to-date with all of his vaccinations except the latest booster, so his case was pretty mild.  He was kinda low-energy, coughing, sniffling, etc.  Got on Paxlovid ASAP.Mom & I had gotten our boosters a day or so before Dad tested positive, and we both tested negative.A few days of sniffles & a mild cough later, I tested positive for COVID.  I get put on Paxlovid.  Mom is still negative.Dad takes his last dose of Paxlovid, and Mom finally tests positive.  She’s put on Paxlovid, but like me, it’s just sniffles and minor coughing.Note: one Paxlovid side effect we ALL noticed was that it gives you a persistent bitter taste in your mouth.  It abated while you’re eating and about 30min afterwards, but then returns.  For Mom and me, the taste disappeared about 12 hours after the last dose.  For Dad, it disappeared AFTER Mom’s did.Halloween: we knew it was going to be a light evening because it was a weeknight, there was a cold snap, and the Texas Rangers were playing in the World series, so we bought about 50% of what we usually do…and STILL have most of it left.Bonus: Dad came home with a case of food poisoning from something brought to his office by a pharmaceutical rep.  Others were also sickened, so the office got closed for a couple of days.First week of November, Mom gets a second bout of COVID in conjunction with some other minor infections, and winds up hospitalized for a few days.Two days after she gets released, I get sick with some kind of (undiagnosed) intestinal affliction, and I’m virtually useless for 2 days.  So there’s me (sick) and Dad (recovering) taking care of Mom (recovering).Today: Dad’s fine, I’m fine, Mom is recovering.  The combination of illnesses really took the wind out of her sails.So- surprise, surprise- we are NOT hosting a big Thanksgiving dinner this year.  We’re not HAVING a big Thanksgiving meal this year.  I might not even be COOKING this holiday.We might invite 1-2 people over who don’t have family in town, and get some tasty sides and a fried or smoked turkey from restaurants/grocery stores.  Strictly low key.</blockquote>
