Happy Independence Day to Estonia

Apparently Estonia has two Independence Days.

Independence Day, 24 February (1918); note - 24 February 1918 is the date Estonia declared its independence from Soviet Russia; 20 August 1991 is the date it declared its independence from the Soviet Union

So, Happy First Independence Day, and congrats on joining the EU.

The February 24 date is the one that Estonia celebrates as its independence day, however, at least partly because of the belief that Estonia was an occupied country during the Cold War (the US, in fact, did not officially recognize Soviet control over the Baltic States and maintained unofficial embassies with those countries in the US, IIRC)

More info from the Estonian Foreign Ministry

As a Baltophile it's nice to see these oft-ignored countries garner some recognition! :)

Happy Independence Day, Eesti!

Cheers to our neighbours across the sea!
(And yes, I am frunk, so this is not so eloquent as it could be. Hey, I can still spell "eloquent"!)
