Happy Town Canceled

After two (now three) episodes, apparently ABC's new series Happy Town has been canceled.

Really, after just two episodes? This series had a lot of promise. And Sam Neill!

I guess shows like this really should just go on SyFy or Chiller where the expectations for numbers of viewers isn't as high.

I was enjoying Happy Town right off the bat. The characters are interesting and there are plenty of creepy mysteries. Sam Neil's character had me thinking of Leland Gaunt from Stephen King's Needful Things. What really ticks me off is that ABC will wait to run the last five episodes in June.

That's a real shame. It was coming together nicely, I felt.

I know - it's a good show! It fills the vacancy about to be left by Lost nicely. You can see the Stephen King and David Lynch (Twin Peaks) influences.

I really wish SyFy or Chiller TV had picked this up.

I was starting to really get into it, as was the girlfriend. Seems like it really didn't even get a chance.

Never saw an episode...but it looked cool. I wouldn't be surprised to see SyFy or Chiller pick it up, if they have the $$$. They can't survive on reruns and made-for-TV movies forever.
