Has anyone used the Tainted PrC from Dragon?

Has anyone used this yet? Does it seem to be balanced or playable considering the amount of extraneous rolls needed to play this class?

I attempted to play something similar with the Child of Baal template from an earlier edition of Dragon, but found all the extra rolling tedious and unwieldly.

I really want to, especially after I read how one of the members here got suckered (sorry ;D) into taking it. But I lost that issue of Dragon somewhere in my house ... grrr.

Yeah, it's a class, I have to choose to take levels in it. Heck, I'm the one that proposed it to the DM.

I wanted something to tempt my paladin with power and combat lust or something of the kind, but in general, the stuff wouldn't really be a challenge. It'd be too obvious early on that something was wrong, and the powers were so out there that I wouldn't feel compelled to use them.

I was looking at Erinyes, but personality wise it doesn't work for me. Sure, OOC the +4 charisma would be great, but that's a side note.

The Tainted does't really work well against your will afterall. If a DM told me "okay, you've gained level 6, and have to take this class." I'd probably stop playing that character or that game.
But, as they say, there's more than one way to possess a paladin. :)

I looked over this class and it really struck me that this would work much better as a template.
For one, that would allow it to be added to any class without difficulty.
Second, it would allow the DM to tempt the PC without ramming a class down their throat, but instead dangling abilities with "minor" consequences that then lead to major consequences.
