Absolutely. I taped it while I watched Smallville and intended to only check out the opening to see if it was any good.

My wife and I ended up watching the entire thing. VERY well done. It takes a lot to jump me, and Haunted did it twice - in a TV show of all things.

So, we'll keep taping it while we watch Smallville - but only because we want all the episodes on tape. Otherwise, we'd be watching Haunted and taping Smallville!

Good job.

Damn it! I need spoilers. My VCR tape ran out just as Frank was in the guy's apartment, meeting the neighbor. The screwdriver was spinning, he met the neighbor, and..... the tape rewinds.

What happened?

Spoilers a-go-go:

You start with the main character, a former police officer turned private detective. His son was kidnapped and is still lost, and he went bonkers or something.

He's in an old building looking for a couple of kids, one the babysitter of the other. He walks in and catches the dying babysitter who has been stabbed (says, "Help us," as he falls). The bad guy beats him with a steel pipe and tries to haul him up to the roof and then throw him over. He manages to push the bad guy over instead. Bad guy is dead.

He goes near-death experience in the hospital and sees his son among the other people he sees there walking toward the light. He's revived. He tells his ex-wife who freaks on him for not letting go of it.

He goes to the missing boy's parents and tells them that he didn't find their boy yet, but that he'll keep looking. The parents leave for a bit, and he hears a ghostly voice saying, "Help us" and the boy's picture jumps off the wall.

Various other spooky things will happen to him to freak him out at random intervals. Boxes are emptied and re-arranged. He sees shadows behind clouded glass doors, a certain symbol is sketched into his mirror while he's taking a shower, he sees an unrecognizable person wearing the same type of jacket as the babysitter walking into a closet and disappearing.

He goes to the morgue and talks to the doctor who tells him the dead guy had photography chemicals on him. That triggers the thought that it was a child pornography thing, and the kid is probably still alive. When the morgue doctor turns around, the dead guy's eyes pop open and he tries to strangle our Hero. Apparently, the dead are allowed to interfere physically. The doctor comes back and the dead guy is dead again.

Good guy goes back to the bad guy's apartment and sees a screwdriver spinning on the desk. He also (I think) sees the babysitter-ghost walk into the closet again. He picks up the screwdriver and heads to the closet when he's interrupted by one of the janitors. The bad guy was the supervisor, but the janitor didn't do anything social with him, just worked for him. Big shock to everybody, all that. Janitor shoos the good guy out saying the police had told him not to let anyone in.

Good guy goes to his old partner and talks him into letting good guy borrow the case file. Goes back to his place, researches stuff online. Electronics go funky (every time the ghosts show up, they do), and the babysitter ghost shows up again and goes into his own closet and disappears.

Good guy figures there's something in the closet at the apartment, so he makes an appointment to pick up old partner, picks him up and is driving toward the apartment when he gets a phone call. It's his partner. Good guy looks to see who is sitting next to him, it's the dead bad guy who forces him to crash into an electric pole. He stumbles to the apartment.

He goes to the closet door and finds a secret door, goes in a bit. Then calls his partner who was working with good guy's ex-wife (the district attorney) to get a search warrant. Good guy goes into passages behind the walls and finds a way into a room with child porn and cameras and sees the kid's picture on the tv screen.

He follows the camera wire out and then into a neighboring building (used to store old subway equipment?) hears the kid, who turns out to be the dead bad guy again mimicking his voice. Good guy fights the dead bad guy again, who traps him in a room. He shoots the lock off the door, reloads (nice touch) and then heads out looking for the kid again.

He finds an old subway car (?) and goes in, the janitor (live bad guy) ambushes him, they fight, eventually good guy beats bad guy and has gun to his head when partner talks him down. They rescue kid and return him to parents.

Other plot items: he handles hearing dead people fairly well. There's a blind chess player in the park that convinces him he's not insane. I think the chess player is going to be a staple. Decent relationship with ex-wife, obviously still care about each other, but losing their son did a lot of damage to both, and his lack of handling of it drove her away.

I think that's it. Anyone else, fill me in.

End of spoiler.
