I think the bonus material hurts this pdf rather than help it, as the NPC is bland and the bonus material is as long as the main segment. More haunts would have been a better fit. That being said, there are a couple of ok ideas herein and for the low price, I’ll rate it 1.5 stars, rounded down to 1. Due to the very low price, you might round it up to 2.
This pdf is 12 pages long, 1 page front cover, 1 page editorial, 1 page ToC, 1 page bonus cover, 1 page SRD and 1 page back cover. That leaves 6 pages of content. The pdf presents 11 new haunts over the space of three pages. They range from quite cool (Blind Man’s Alley) to rather lame ones (Death of a Treant – kills off plant life that enters a specific area) and span CR1 – CR 16. A haunt I considered to be interesting is a NG haunt that forces people to donate 10% of their wealth, although I think it should work only once per person to keep them for donating until they are poor themselves. The bonus material is 3 pages long and presents three incarnations of the ranger Ederranth (lvl 2, lvl 4 and lvl 7) and suffers from the same formatting problems the characters in “Touch of Character” had. The plot hooks are once again nothing to write home about and the equipment is once again limited to armor and weapons. Ederranth lacks a CMB and CMD. Conclusion: The haunts presented are ok, although they suffer from several typos and awkward sentences like “They managed to slowly corrupt the townsfolk but they were slain by a group of heroes who bought in by one brave peasant.”[sic!] and “Griella predicted the death and death of Sir Farnsworth.“[sic!] Mechanically and idea-wise, though, they are ok. I especially liked the explanations for the Notice-DCs of the haunts. However, if you’re allergic to typos and the like, round it down. It’s better than the other AGES-files I’ve read to this date, but it’s still not a good file.
