[QUOTE="cardinal sinister, post: 426522, member: 7019"] Is it just me or do the majority of these sad incidents occur at LARPS? We've had a few over the years, mostly in college...another odd coincedence. When Chairman_Kaga and I were at Penn State we gamed with a bunch of guys who we later found out to be VERY good friends although they acted like they were just casual gaming buddies. It was he and I and two other guys from our dorm in this group with the six of them. The DM, had written this spelljammer campaign that had us go to this planet that was enslaved by a "fierce beast", after a whole lot of silliness, we finally confront the critter and it turns out to be a dragon of some sort. I was playing a cleric/fighter and the Chairman was a mage/druid. We threw everything we had at the critter and...nothing. Kaga did almost 350 pts of damage by himself and...nothing. Well, 15 rounds later, only the dm's roommate (bard) and one other guy are alive and the bard finally hit the thing and poof...it died. It went from indestructible to crying like an infant in one attack. The next night, at work, we overheard the dm laughing with another player about how stupid the freshmen (us) were last night...and how the dragon was healed by magic, and if we had just used all our abilities to protect the chosen one, it would have been so quick. As it turns out, only a certain sword wielded by a certain person (the DM's roommate and best friend who had joined the campaign more than halfway thru) could hurt the beast. NOTHING else worked. He had never even hinted at this beforehand. He then indicated that his group did this periodically to noobs to make them remember their place. The Chairman took a pan of ziti (we worked at the dining commons) and whacked the guy in the head. He lost his job, but the dm needed 12 stitches, and the Chairman found a new job soon enough.
