Yes! You mean the Dread Emperor right? The Wiz 10/Diabolist 10 freak of nature. Yeah, we encountered him, at about 5th or 6th level. In all honesty, he was dialed down by the GM, to maybe tenth, and it wasn't suppose to be an encounter meant to lead to phyiscal confrontation. It was a group of us playing in a homebrew. In this homebrew there is one night which is like Halloween in the sense that all kinds of strange and evil things occur. Disappearances, murders, crimes, kidnapping etc....generally a bad evening to be out in. Our group had travelled into town and paid for lodging for the night. As the evening progressed by the inn's fire we heard the screams of a woman outside in the street. Being the brave heroes we thought we were, we exited the building and stop the pursuers of the woman. At the conclusion of that our Paladin stumbles upon the Emperor escorting a number of chained children through, and we expected, out of town. Needless to say the Emperor detects as EVILLLLLLL. The DM plays him as silent and haunty as possible, it is clear he is not concerned about our party's strength in the LEAST. Paladin exchanges words with him, demands release of the children, and finds the answer and the actions of the Emperor unacceptable. Being Lawful Stupid, he charged the Emperor intent on killing him. I think he got within 60 ft when the first and only necessary maximized fireball (not corrupted notice) hit him and did 60 points of damage. The paladin was nothing but ashes and armor by that point, and the rest of us decided that since those children weren't ours, the Emperor had as much right to them as their parents did. Later I actual found the Dread Emperor skimming through BOVD in my local FLGS. Nasty to say the least, and after reading him, we obviously had a scaled down, on the fly version in the streets that night. -neg
