Haven't been on in awhile

I haven't been on in awhile and just wanted to know if there are any interesting threads out there that I may have missed. Maybe its a little conceited but I can tell you what I did instead: I spent the last part of summer finishing and defending my thesis (Masters in Physics and Astronomy), but I still haven't graduated due to a clerical error on the part of a former member of my committee. During the school year I spent it busy adapting to a new degree program (Space and Planetary Science with an emphasis in Microbiology), working a new job (TAing for Organic Chemistry Lab), and dating (found and lost two women, something is wrong with me). Anyway, I guess I'll just look around.

Welcome back! Fishing and defending a thesis is a tricky combo -- did you bring the committee (or whatever) out on the boat with you? :D

After loving and losing, so to speak, would you agree that it is indeed better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all?

Not really

No, but sometimes I felt like my committee used the business end of a boat oar on me. As for the women, yeah, I can say that I have grown some and understand a little more about myself through the experiences but I still miss them.

Thanks for remembering me. From the first days when I discovered your site, to the Dancey letter I posted, to all the conversions I posted, I'm glad that I could play a small part in this site (and this is besides learning how not to flame and to love 3rd Edition).

What kind of threads interest you? General gaming industry stuff? Specific game, publisher or character stuff? General drama queenery or attention whoring? There has been lots of everything, so point us in a direction, please.

Welcome back.

Pumkin toting. Err...
As for threads. I am more of a rules creator than anything. I do like to weigh in some of the d20 games and I am sad to see the Call of Cthulhu preservation society thread has been buried (I have Cyberscape, Gurps: Terradyne, Gurps: Cyberworld, Gurps: Cthulhupunk, Delta Green, and CoC: End times, this with CoCd20 would make a great game, and my players fail their sanity checks every time I mention it). I am also a big Transhuman Space fan. Currently I am running a pirate D&D game set in the Age of Adventure from d20 past with a dash of the history of Victoriana and Amazing Engine: Magitech. Did you know that Taiwan was a pirate haven rule by the former Ming Chinese Admiral Koxinga (the Manchus had taken mainland China and he used pirates to harrass the Manchus)? When I did this I didn't realize how much adventure there was in the world of the late 17th Century, besides Taiwan there is the brewings of the Sino-Russian war in Amur Basin, the Mogul persecutions of Hindus in India, General Korpulu's last attempt to take Europe for the Ottoman Empire, and the battles between Sweden and Prussia, in addition to what was happening in the Age of Adventure writeup.
