I'm looking at complete warrior right now. Page 154. The Elven Thinblade. The Elven Thinblade acts like a rapier, but deals 1d8 damage. The Elven Thinblade excludes the rapier's statement that this weapon cannot be weilded two-handed to apply a 1.5* strength modifier to damage. Monkey grip allows a character to weild a weapon of a higher size category with normal effort (two hander as a two hander, one hander as a one hander, light as a light). Now, I see three abuses here, and I'm looking to see if they are covered for in the rules. The first is just plane weird, but the negatives do make it appear obviously a bad choice of style. The second is only a problem is caused by large "rapier-like" weapons being monkey gripped at all. The third isn't too horrible, just odd. 1) Exotic Weapon Proficiency (Thinblade), Monkey Grip, Two-weapon Fighting, Weapon Finesse. Two "large" Thinblades at 2d6/18-20x2 could be duel weilded and finessed at a -6/-6. 2) Exotic Weapon Proficiency (Thinblade), Weapon Finese, Monkey Grip. Character can weild a 2d6/18-20x2 Large Thinblades one handed at a -2 penalty. 3) Exotic Weapon Proficiency (Thinblade), Weapon finesse. A character can weild a 2d6/18-20x2 Large Thinblade in two hands, at a -2 penalty, and still gains the 1.5x strength damage. If you tag on the rapier's additional restriction to the thinblade, that eliminates the 1.5x strength modifier to damage, but that is all.
