Healing word confusion

Why is healing word a burst 5 if it only affects one target?? It seems to me that it may as well be ranged 5.... But I'm pretty sure I'm just missing something........

Burst 5 means that it doesn't provoke an opportunity attack while ranged 5 would. I believe that's the reason why it's burst 5 instead of ranged 5.

Bursts don't provoke??? REALLY?? That's AWESOME. I thought they did.....Man this changes EVERYTHING....

well maybe not everything but it changes alot. My whole group has been doin this wrong.....

It's actually not burst that's the key there, it's close burst 5 that means it doesn't provoke.
