OK, i know i've had a few threads already about mounts, barding etc... I just want ot know what peoples thoughts/recomendations are on a lot of this and mainly, the weapon and or magial enhancement on the barding
absolutes - the creature will be a magebred Griffon (getting a magebred hippogriff first, griffon is going to be planned out for later)
-armor will be magical chain (why would you ever pay 4000 for medium mithral when i can get magical enhancements that are better for cheaper)
- what kind of items or magical things would be useful on the mount? carrying capacity isn't a big issue, my character is a monk9+/fighter2/barbarian1 (house rule on lawful monks) and a magebred griffon has a 519 light load , roughly 300 of that taken up my myself and the mounts armor.
- will be using a heavy lance, but i don't know what to enhance it with. also it could be made out of different materials before it gets enhanced but that gets pricey fast.
-also, in the magebred choices i took +2 AC (making it 22 total) over the +10 movement to one speed type (flying, its 80 now, would have been 90). Is the loss of the speed worth the 2 AC? i think so but your input would be nice.
i also took the +4 on str and improved natural attack (bite) for the feat.
any input on the magebred template i chose or what kind of armor/Lances for myself and the mount would be appreciated (no armor for me though.... monk! w00t!)
- oh and i have a inevitable (marut) chasing me.... he won't be catching up for a long time but keep that in mind when it comes to weapons and items (anarchic enchancement is expensive... especially if i get construct bane on it as well)
EDIT! Alright... It seems that the magebred template from Eberron can only be applied to Animals, (I can't believe I didn't notice this) so I'm going to have to rethink a lot of stuff.
EDIT #2: Dammit, that last edit was my DM (we work together). I figured the template worked fine for trainable creatures so i just decided to neglect to mention the 'animal' part... he wasn't supposed to read up on that... i still think its feasible. I mean if a creature can be trained and raised by people, why can't it b maically enhanced from conception onwards by mage breeders? And double the cost makes a griffon really expensive...
