I don't know what it is with Directors anymore. Can't they follow a script? Don't they know that the author of the book knows more about stories than they'll ever learn.
Helen of Troy would have been awesome if they followed the Illiad.
Really, the part I disliked was making it the Paris show. He gets Hector's military prowess, so Hector's just a wimp getting beat in his only two real fighting scenes. The Greeks are universally the bad guys, which gets annoying after a while.
They also left out Patrocles, Achilles sulking over Chryseis, and a host of other elements. Nestor and Ajax were completely written out of the story. Basically, the Illiad was ignored for the most part, except for the fact that Achilles killed Hector.
Plus, I was annoyed that there was no phalanx fighting by either side. Though historically inaccurate, if you are going to arm the Greeks as hoplites, have them fight like hoplites.
