Hello out there!! :)

Fiery James

First Post
Hi! I'm still alive. And, if you're reading this, it means that I can finally post from work.

FDP switched servers about 3 weeks ago and things haven't been running very smoothly since then. We've had e-mails bounce back after waiting a week or so, and I've sort of lost track of which replies actually got out and those that didn't. If you haven't heard from me and you have an urgent matter, please e-mail me again and I'll try to respond before too long.

Of course, I've also been having some issues with my home PC. Seems I can only run one application at a time... no surfing while reading e-mails, no photoshop while dowloading porn... I mean, stuff from the ftp server... and, since Outlook uses Word as its editor, no replying to e-mails. Jason's set up a web-based browser for me to use to reply. It's a good stop-gap measure, but I need my PC back!!

Of course, this is all rambling and I haven't got to my point yet...

There's been a lot of talk lately about the "industry" and how much everything costs and how little RPG companies make and that sort of stuff. And everyone's been pretty right on the button. If you're on the outside looking in, listen to the wisdom of John Nephew and Clark Peterson and Hal and all the rest. Bright guys and friendly too!

Just to jump in with the latest at FDP... we've been busy. Sure, we've managed to update our website on it's regular quarterly schedule (that's a joke - I'm going to try to do it this weekend), and we've got some products out (though not enough, so get ready for new stock to show up in January - though the Counter Packs seem to have legs, which is nice), but the other life keeps intruding.

As most of the people in the RPG industry, we all have "day jobs" that demand our time and attention during regular business hours. It used to be that FDP existed via secret e-mails snuck in at work during the day and then really kicked in after 8:00 at night. Lately, however, babies take up that slot, so FDP gets whatever hours we can spare between family and fourth-quarter madness at work.

As an aside, to keep me employed, can everyone go out and buy at leas one video from 7-ELEVEN this holiday season? Sure, it's a little more pricey than K-Mart, but they're just trying to screw everyone before going out of business. {/end work rant}

So, this is just a quick post to let everyone know that we're still alive, although we still fall into periods of non-communication either due to technical difficulties or just being swamped at work.

No real point, other than to shout-out to my fellow d20ite friends and those who've been patient with us.

Now, if you'd like to know what I'd do if I had the time, you can read this.

Hope everyone's doing well so far during the holidays, and I can't wait to get my mitts on a copy of Mutants & Masterminds. (Picked up Mearl's Monster Handbook a few weeks ago, and once I get M&M there will be nothing left on my shopping list - but do they really expect me to wait?!?!)

I do get to go see The Two Towers in 5 days!

Happy Festivus.

Good to hear from Fiery-land again, James. Sorry about your computer problems, but there is one suggestion I can offer: turn off Word as your email editor. Select Tools, Options. Click the Mail Format tab, and uncheck the appropriate "Use Word to edit/read your email messages" option(s), depending on your Outlook version.

Hope this helps in some small way...

Dude, it's so simple, but it worked... I was able to actually send an e-mail with Outlook.

Of course, my browser crashed 3 times while I tried to typ this message.

Thanks very much - if you get a chance, please send me your mailing address to jamesbell@fierydragon.com and I'll say thanks with some counters!!
