Or, "Why people from the South should not Plane Shift." Let's say you are a relatively inexperienced (real-world) player that suddenly has access to Astral Projection (like, let's say you are me). I am having a LOT of trouble figuring out what the spell allows, or heck what it is even good for. Is the following possible? 1) Mr. Hatfield hates Mr. McCoy. Mr. Hatfield "goes astral" (casts Astral Projection) and decides to form a new body on the material plane. Hatfield's original body is also on the material plane, in suspended animation (SA). So Hatfield forms this new body, with new equipment on the material plane (MP). Hatfield goes and confronts McCoy, who shoots him down, killing the astral projection body of Hatfield. The astral projection spell ends, and Hatfield wakes up from his SA slumber on the MP, in his original body. Presumbably, he could "go astral" again and attack McCoy again, until he beats McCoy. Correct? 2) Or is it not possible to have two sets of bodies on the material plane at the same time? 3) Can you "go astral" onto, say, the Plane of Shadow, and then Plane Shift that body onto the material plane? (another way to get two bodies on the MP)? 4) If Hatfield is astral, walking around the MP with an astral copy body, is Hatfield extra-planar, so can or can't be dismissed? I mean, he's on the plane that he grew up on (MP) but, he's also in contact with the Astral Plane... extra-planar is relative... ugh my head hurts... 5) If Hatfield hates McCoy, and wants to use Astral Projection to "kill" McCoy, are there any suggestions for clever ways to do it, besides the obvious one outlined in 1)? 6) What happens to equipment on the astral duplicate, if for example Hatfield has a one-of-a-kind item (unique or artifactial)? Does that item not get duplicated? Or does it? 7) What happens if the Astral Duplicate has something like Pandora's Box on him, which the Astral Duplicate on the MP opens? Is this duplicate Pandora's Box really the same as the original? Does the curse "activate" assuming there is a curse for whomever opens the box? If it does activate and, for example, drains 10 levels from the Astral Duplicate, does this effect the original body back on the MP in SA? I'll stop there, as my brain is fried. And and all help, suggestions, etc. much appreciated.
