For the sorcerer, considering it is an NPC, I would build him as an elemental savant. Make him a true force of nature, which makes him easier to play (more blasting spells than other stuff). I suggest Sorcerer6/Elemental Savant19. Give him Education (from FRCS) to fulfill the Knowledge (the planes) requirement. Since the cleric is already into fire, consider making the sorcerer an air savant. Get him Energy Substitution/Admixture electricity and/or sonic (sonic being the thunderclap), and some metamagic feats. For spells, get one evocation-type spell each level, but remember to keep save variety in offense (ie, not just reflex saves). Make the rest of the spells useful protections/utility spells, both for the NPC and the party. Mind Blank is great with the sorcerer's slots/day (ie, cover the whole party), but immunity to scrying may not be something you want them to have. Energy Immunity is essencial, since he takes double damage from acid (and also helps the party immensely). A powerful Wall spell is a must-have, as are mobility spells (Dimension Door, Teleports) In terms of varying offense, I think Disintegrate and Horrid Wilting actually fit quite well for Fort saves (Disintegrate can look like a ray of electricity, and Horrid Wilting evaporates water--both fit air theme IMHO). Elemental Archon seems good for the cleric, but again I'm make him simple to play. With the party being geared more towards combat (as opposed to spells), I'd make him more of a spellcaster than a melee cleric. Just select a good standard spell list and he's set.
