HELP!! Dungeoneer's Survivial Guide

Earlier today I got a hold of a used copy of the Duneoneer's Survival guide. Unfortunately, I found that pages 71-72 (one leaf) were ripped out! That was one of the more interesting parts of the book, too! Can anyone who has this book and a scanner help me out?

Thanks!

Holy CRAP!!!!

I just sat down to write up a brief overview of pages 71 and 72 of the dungeoneers survival guide for you and guess what!!!!!!

Pages 71 and 72 have been torn from my book too!!!!!!!

What the HELL!!!

I bought this book just a few years ago. I'd been looking for it for a long time. I never got a chance to get it when it came out back in the 80's.

Now I find there is some sort of massive secret plot to tear out all the pages 71 and 72 from the book!!

Does anyone out there still have those pages in their book???

And, more importantly, does anyone know WHY more than 1 person would think of ripping that page out??!!

I've never heard of ripping pages out of a gaming book before selling to a used book store. What could be so special about that page that makes everyone want to tear it out??????

Perhaps it's just quite a coincidence, as the pages in question are still firmly attached to my DSG. page 72 is a picture by Jeff Easley (not one of his better works) of a creature surprising 2 scantily-clad women (that's why they were torn out! ;) ).

Page 71 displays 4 "Theories on the Nature of the Underdark" as prefaced on the bottom of p70. These include the Hollow Earth Theory, the Swiss Cheese Theory, The Isolated Pockets Theory, and the Partial Connection Theory.

In short, they are pages you can probably live without. If you MUST have them I would suggest going on Ebay and buying one for...oh...$2.00 if that.

Chicken Choking Fodder

Page 72 contains a full-page illo of two scantily clad women being leered at by a demon. Since it's a full page image, I suspect people tore the page out to pin on their wall. A shame, because page 71 contains cool theories about the nature of the Underdark.

I think it's an ogre - the women look like harem-girls. IMO it's a great and _very_ un-Politically Correct pic, as an adolescent I loved it, although I'd never have ripped it out of my DSG (sacrilege!). It was soon after this that I gues TSR adopted the 'angry mothers from heck' Ethics Code and everything went to wrack and ruin. Not that 3e is un-PC, I can't imagine eg the pic of the Diablo Rogue (butt-kickin but lots of cleavage) making it into a 3e work, never mind harem girl pics...

Dungeons and Dragons Publisher Politics:

Gygax-era TSR: Demons OK, bad guys winning OK, political incorrectness OK, drugs probably OK.

Post-Gygax TSR: Demons not OK, bad guys winning not OK, some political incorrectness OK in moderation, drugs probably not OK.

WotC: Demons OK, bad guys winning OK, political incorrectness definitely not OK......but drugs OK.

Says a lot about who was/is managing the game, eh?

There goes my sub species of underwear gnomes theory.

Yep :)
I find WoTC's strictures less annoying than the TSR Ethics Code era - I find political incorrectness is quite easy to insert into my gameworld...
