Help for a Newbie

Little Vera

First Post
Greetings!

First time on the board, but I've heard so many great things from my hubby (Munin), that I thought I would give it a try.

My situation is this:
I've been gaming for about 4 years and I think it's about time to run a game of my own. So, I was hoping to get a few suggestions on good short modules(about 4 sessions long, or so).

I'm looking for something with intrigue, some heavy r/ping and a few good fights. I know that doesn't narrow it down very much, but I just thought I give it a shot.

Thanks, in advance. :D

Go with one of the published adventures from WotC to start you out. You can't go wrong with them, really. Not sure what level, but you can see them all at the WotC website and pick one up easily. Modify the adventure to fit your campaign, and if any have read it already just create a new twist to the ending or throw in different critters in between with special powers.

WOTC modules are most excellent for running a game for the first time.
Some ideas could be:

Having the players meet by going on a short pilgrimage, like Chaucer's Canterbury Tales.
There are alot of interesting characters in that story that you might be able to model some NPCs after.
Maybe they are traveling to a Cathedral (like Notre Dame) to pray to the relic bones of a revered priest.-(or whatever you wish).
Along the road they must cross through a virgin forest. There they are waylaid attacked by some creature/human celtic barbarians/or humanoids early in their journey.
After the melee they encounter a traveling NPC who decides to help heal there wounds. He knows of an ancient rare healing mushroom (or plant) like the athelas plant somewhere located in the virgin forest. Maybe its a ring of enchanted mushrooms.
Once eating the mushrooms the party all fall unconcious (I guess it would be important that all the players are wounded slightly in order that they all eat the mushrooms.Possible that the mushrooms give them temporary enhanced attributes so all players will eat). Upon awakening they all find out they are 2 feet tall!
(Its an old Gygax story from one of his Gord novels easily possible that he took it from some old folklore).
Soon they encounter a kingdom of Sprites that use the mushrooms for food and to restore themselves and their magical ability. The mushrooms heal but maybe they have other magical potion like abilities. Depending on color/size whatever. Maybe at first they fight the sprites being totally disoriented (all depends upon what your players do) but in the end the sprite faeries ask for the part's aid for some task. Maybe fighting those evil faeries called Jinx or something (I forget what they are called) or creatures like frogs or giant centipedes.
Anyway to add to the plot maybe one of the players falls in love with one of the sprites. I mean who wouldn't fall in love with Tinkerbell?
So the conflict is when they return to normal size, love affair over! Also maybe the faerie sprite king might forbid the whole fraternizing with mortals kind of thing.
So the journey then continues with more short adventures until the reach their given destination.
Just suggestions to evoke your own imagination Vera!

Personally, I think you should give the "Shackled City" adventure path in Dungeon a shot. It is pretty good, well contained, and has a premise that is still developing. It may be a little more than you want right now but you can stop and come back to it if you decide to rn again.

Thanks for the suggestions guys! I really like the idea about the pixies. That could definitely be fun. And I'll be sure to check out WotC.

BTW, Hairy, I was looking for anything to get my imagination rolling. It would be easier if it were a published adventure. Besides, I can always make my own plot twists and changes. Also, I'm looking for something around 5th level. Personally, I never much enjoyed starting at 1st level. I have this thing with being weak.

Anyhoo, thanks again.
