Though I know the maesters of this site are most worthy.. alas I am too poor to contribute to their worthy aspirations.

My guilt knows no bounds, when I think of the goodness I have gained from this site... with no recompense for those who have provided me with this outlet.

It has to do with swords of sharpness and vorpal swords. Please help.

I found this by searching the old fashioned way, just like you would.

Difference is, I'm not lazy, and I AM way more bored.

Yes. Anyone who has read DMG realizes that there is no longer a sword of sharpness in the official rules. In 2nd edition, they were basically a vorpal sword with light generation without the head chop and a 33% smaller crit range.

Since criticals are really about damage(and vorpal/sharpness were about mayhem(literally, look it up)), I was thinking that perhaps for those 2 qualities: v/s, that the first damage roll would represent(prior to regen) unhealable damagein the case of a sword of sharpness.

Assume this.
Longsword of Sharpness
Keen crit range.
Max HP 58

AT roll of 18
Limb removed(leg, arm... what have you)
roll damage immediately: 1d8(4) + 3(str) + 2(spec) = 9

This damage CANNOT be healed past 49 hitpoints by anything short of regeneration.

roll crit confirmation
At roll 19
1d8(2) + 3(str) + 2(spec) = 7

Sorry. Horse is most likely dead.... but just wanted to get some folks feelings on the issue.
