Help Make James Jacobs' and Nic Logue's Love Child! (Spoilers)

roguerouge

First Post
Picture this: Mammy Graul in Thistletops's Temple to Lamashtu, naked and pregnant, giving birth to monstrosities every couple of weeks. Nualia's there, chosen of Lamashtu, to nurse Mammy through this process. The PCs have to put a stop to it.

Would people be interested in having access to a quick guide for such a mashup? It'd be used as a module for mid-level characters, rather than a beginning to an adventure path. At the end of the process, I'd post it to EnWiki as a community asset. (As, indeed, I will at Paizo.)

Would you help brainstorm and troubleshoot?

If so, how would you use the Runewell? Are Mammy and Nualia just praising Lamashtu or are they also trying to take over the world? What would you do with the barghest?

It sure sounds like an interesting (and natural) merge. I do think you would get a lot more active participants on the paizo messageboards.

I am running Thistletop at the moment, still far away from meeting Nick's ogres, but looking forward to them.

This kinda reminds me of the 'mother of monsters' PrC in Wrath & Rage (for Orc Adepts).

To build it into an adventure, the monsters would be a threat, obviously, but also the ritual / Incantation / whatever involved in the process would require certain reagents. Vast quantities of food, preferably meat, would also be an important component, as Mammy's got to keep her girlish figure. The 'reagents' required could very well be living beings, preferably sentient, to be sacrificed, their stolen life-forces being used to kickstart unholy 'immaculate conception' within the ogress.

The PCs could be involved because of the appearance of monsters, the increasing Ogre raids on both people and livestock (as they need to feed Mammy *and* provide sacrifices, as well as feed themselves normally) or the raids could target other specific materials, such as a hedge wizard or wise woman's shack outside of town being razed for papers and inks and dusts and such, things that Ogres wouldn't generally have any use for (but that ritual circle around Mammy doesn't draw itself, and has to be refreshed each time)...

My number one choice for the birthed monsters would be some sort of Gibbering Mouther variant, but using Giant Squid (or Fiendish Giant Squid) stats, replacing aquatic with Amphibious (and granting a land / climb speed), upping Int to 6 and swapping out Ink Jet for a huge racial bonus to Hide checks from chameleonic skin-changes, could also make for a creepy encounter, all tentacles and mouths and slobbering madness.

The conception's going to be immaculate? Drat.

Seriously, the food issue is one early hook: farmers come to the sheriff with reports of an upturn in raids. Maybe the PCs do something about it, maybe it's foreshadowing.

I'm thinking that since we're talking about births here, we'd need the sacrifices to be young, rather than the corpse of an adult, as in the non-love child version. I'm thinking kittens and puppies and kid-snatching during the Sandpoint raid by the goblins.

Good one to use! Also note that the lairs of both Nualia and Mammy have tendriculouses. (sp?) That could be another monstrous birth, or perhaps the result of their early experimentations.

In addition, I think that the goblin harem has to be involved with this eventually. The goblin maturation cycle is really fast and they are fertile as all git out: 50% pregnancy rate. Plus, with speeding up their devolution, you can start having mutated Paizo goblins! Add in a biological rationale for goblin dogs and goblin snakes, both of which are drawn as cross-breeds, and you have some plug and play mutations there too.

So... how do we use the Runewell? How do the PCs turn it off? And do you have it at Thistletop or in the catacombs of Wrath?

Dang. I thought this thread was about James and I making sweet sweet man-love. Instead...its about the most disgusting side-trek style adventure ever conceived! Awesome! :)

I think you need to add a power to Mammy like "projectile placenta" or somesuch to make this complete.

Now I need to cleanse my brain.

Err... shouldn't this be posted on Craig's List or something? Besides I'm not into the mantrain. :p

I like the idea of them not trying to take over the world. That's cliche. How's about they are really just misunderstood young kids in love? Sadly, their brood is threatening civilization on all fronts, but I like the moral dilemma of having to stop two young lovebirds who ain't really done nuthin' wrong.

Romeo and Juliet with monsters.

Romeo and Juliet with monsters.

Maybe with a happy ending? :)

And then Mammy gets the greatest gift from Lamashtu, a child which even *she* regards as monstrous. After a surprisingly difficult labor, she squeezes out an absolutely gorgeous human child, apparently four years of age!

[sometime later]
Oh, she's so precious. It's hard to believe that she was rescued from those beastly Ogres! So strange, 'though, it was dark and there was fire and steel, but it seemed to me that she wasn't really being held prisoner, did you notice? Those brutes seemed almost, oh, it sounds silly, I know, but they seemed afraid of her...

[later]
Some wild animal must have gotten to him. Poor thing. He was such a good watchdog, I can't believe something got into the house like that.

[later still]
I'm so sorry to hear about your son, taken in the night like that. Such a tragedy to lose a child...

[yet later]
Well it *must* be wild dogs that done for those poor creatures. Goblins may be horrible, but they don't butcher cats.

[finally]
Why are you up so late, sweetie? Did you have a nightmare? Here now, what's that in your hand...
