Help Making High Level Wizard

Ok, so my buddy Owen is running us through Necropolis, and I'm the party's Wizard. I've got 10 levels to play around with and I'm interested in making an ass-kicking wizard. I have all the WotC material including all the Dragons availible to me.

Any suggestions? Most of the Prestige Classes from Tome and Blood seemed kinda lackluster, but I'm open to anything that would boost my effectiveness. Including any special arms, armor, feats, etc...

well, I like the Elemental Savant (T&B) for higher spell DC's and spell penetration. He was a fire variety, so he had a few spells prepared (such as magic missle and some lesser acid orbs) just incase some fire immunity freaks came along. I specialized in Evocation, but one doesn't need to for E.S.

But E.S. just happens to be my favorite PrC so... yeah

Convince your DM to let you use FR stuff. Go with Incantrix. Or better still, Arcane Devotee. (This is of course just me.) :)

Spellsword will eat a couple caster levels, but you'll be able to wear some armor. This is a big bonus-- the other abilities are somewhat blah, but the Spellsword also gets bonus feats that can apply to either metamagic or Fighter bonus feats.

That's survivability, right there.

I'd reccomend going Sorceror instead of Wizard. They're much more flexible, and their cast-it-as-you-need-it magic is a lot more useful in dungeons, I've found.

Fatespinner. The ability to reroll for yourself or force an ally or a enemy to reroll, monkey around with your spell DC's, and add a bonus to a roll at a critical time all add up to improving your survivability. Granted you spellcasting will lag just a tad, but is that really important when you've got style. I mean, come on, the ability to control chance, even a little bit is just cool.
