Funny story: I found a guy who makes "battle-ready" shields. Talked with him through e-mail and he made me a Captain America shield. Through our conversations, and some pics he sent me of what he was doing, I've been very excited to get the shield. He said he'd send it by last Thursday. So I figured it would probably be a week getting to me. * * * This weekend, I noticed my wife had broken down (cut open, flattened out) a FedEx box and set it on our front porch. I figured she wanted to be sure it made it out to the curb on trash day (today). I thought it was kind of unnecessary to set it out three days early, but maybe she just didn't want it in the house. <shrug> Yesterday, I added a broken-down box to the FedEx box. Apparently, so did she, as there were some more boxes there. This morning I took the trash out to the curb, including the boxes. I grabbed as many of the boxes as I could in one trip, but the FedEx box was too big compared to the others, so I left it to come back for. When I came back for it, and picked it up, it was heavy. "That's weird," I thought to myself. I looked closer at the flat box. It seemed to have something inside it (it wasn't completely flattened). And it was actually taped up -- the tape was not cut open. "What in the world?" I thought. Then I noticed the return address -- it was from the shield guy! I knew exactly what it was at that moment. I ran inside and told my wife. She said she had noticed that broken-down box on the front porch, but assumed I had put it out there for to put at the curb on trash day. Opening the box, sure enough, there was my beautiful Captain America shield. It had been sitting on my front porch for 3 days (and it's been raining every day). Fortunately, the cardboard box protected it. I came >this< close to throwing away my Captain America shield. :-o Quasqueton
