I've recently become bored with my Human cleric and have decided to make a switch to something a little more action orientated. To this end I've decided on going a goliath melee fighter, specialising in a trusty large greatclub. I'm using Races of Stone, Complete Warrior, and PHB2, although other WOTC sources could possibly be used. The character is 28 pointbuy, and I'm focusing on heavy combat optimisation for something new as my last character was a diplomacy/bluff machine (w/trickery domain). At the moment I'm looking into these stats (after adjustments): Str 22 Dex 12 Con 16 Int 8 Wis 8 Cha 8 I'm cackling with glee at the synergy of various feats down the improved bullrush path such as three mountain style, shock trooper, knockback, brutal strike, crushing strike etc. I was thinking of taking the Occult Slayer PRC (from CW), which on top of providing an interesting character background, will help shore up the low will save. Right now the character will be 4th level (5th effective), so I was thinking of: Goliath Barbarian substitution level 1/ Fighter 3 with the following feats: Weapon Focus (Greatclub) Power Attack (suprise suprise ;) ) Improved Bullrush Knockback (Races of Stone) - free bullrush while power attacking (think baseball) Improved Initiative for entry to Occult slayer or Extra rage (to take advantage of large size while mountain raging) I'm also lucky enough to have access to character traits and flaws which lets me take: Plucky (-1 fortitude saves, +1 will saves) Inattentive (-4 spot, listen checks in exchange for a bonus feat) If you've got PHB2 and have checked out brutal strike and crushing strike, you'll see where I'm going with this. Ouch. I also want to take Shock Trooper ASAP. Can someone tell me if the knockback feat in Races of Stone limits you to pushing them back 5 feet, or if you can send them further. According to the PHB if you dont follow them, you're limited to sending them back 5ft, but the description of Knockback in RoS leads me to believe you send them back further if your bullrush is good enough (with hilarious results) I just need help weighing up the pros and cons of what I'm doing. Should I jump right into the Occult Slayer PRC at 6th level, or stay with the fighter class? (curse you PHB2! :P). AC could be a problem with 12 dex and large size (from mountain rage), but I don't want to give up a 30ft movement. Is 16 Con enough to keep me alive in melee? That will save is an achilles heel (Base -1 due to wisdom, +1 from trait, +1 from fighter levels). Suggestions/comments are appreciated.
