I like the idea of blowing up the mall, sometimes I want that myself. Only one of the malls I work for has a boiler room that could blow up. The trick is to hit the gas mains leading to the boilers, the other malls has the gas mains on the roof going to the big AC units. Bending reality a bit you could have the boiler room also have a trash incinerator that also acts as heat for the building. Place a BBEG at/in the incinerator to fight if they fail to blow things up. I'm thinking along the lines of the Star Trek movie where the borg teleported to the Enterprise and raised the heat and altered the deck plans to suit their purposes. The zombie BBEG may need the temp raised in order to allow the zombies to gain a bonus of speed or something, maybe he is a imp or a devil of some sort. If this is the case, than instead of blowing up the gas main you would need to rupture the freon tanks on the air conditioner. Another minor change in the actual way it works, but allows for good form here. Have giant tanks like liquid nitrogen need to be spilled to put out the fires needed by the devil, or to freeze the zombies. A wave washed across the floor and freezes the legs to the floor making killing them rather easy.
