Help me fill a planewalker's souvenir collection!

Delemental

First Post
I've just joined in on a Planescape PbP, and would like a little help fleshing out one aspect of the character. He's sort of a 'professional finder of valuables', and over the course of his career in the planes has put together a personal collection of various odd trinkets. Nothing of great monetary or magical value ("And this here's the Tongue of Vecna..."), mostly minor items that in his mind reflect a little bit of the wonder and mystery of the planes. The character is a rogue-type, not a scholar, so he isn't likely to collect dusty tomes or items with pure academic interest.

I'd love some contributions on a list of the various trinkets, gadgets, and widgets that one might find sitting on the shelves in this guy's kip. Thanks in advance!

A mirror that was once the convergence point of a small portal between the elemental planes of fire and earth. The heat turned the sand to glass. It's warm to the touch.

A potion vial that you think once held water from the River Styx, but you think you drank it and don't remember.

A pair of shoes you bought in a plane coterminous with a celestial realm. A green-skinned woman with feathery wings gave you a foot massage, and whenever you put the shoes on, they remind you of the best foot massage ever.

An hourglass containing sand that flows backwards. It has flowed like this since you acquired it, and it is nearly out of sand. I wonder what happens when the last grain springs up into the top? Does it merely fall again, or does this hourglass have a more nefarious purpose?

A shard of smooth blackened ice. It was said that this ice was formed when the Negative Energy Plane and the Quasi-Elemental Plane of Ice met up one morning. When it's a dark night, and you're all alone, you think you hear a quiet weeping coming from the ice; but when you move closer, the noise stops.

A knife that, no matter how grievous a wound it inflicts, only leaves superficial cuts. It's said that the knife belonged to a Master Thrower who became a pacifist. He would dice up his adversaries, leaving only paper cuts to annoy them as he went on his merry way. None know what the fate of the Thrower was.

A small statue of a squid headed deity. I keep throwing it away, heck, I've left it on other planes of existence, but it keeps showing up a couple of days later, in that exact spot. It came with the house.

"Yeah, taken a turn around the Wheel a coup'la times. Here, lemmie show ya...

See this dagger? Pretty nice, innit. The feller who gave it to me showed me how to fight with it, said I was a natural. Thing is, I killed him the day before. Walked right up to me the next day after dawn right when I was in the middle of my porridge. I know people can come back an all, but he was all smiles about me killin' him the day before. He even apologized, said he didn't realize I wasn't part o' the games."

(Got the dagger from an einherar from Ysgard.)

"Oh, and these stone cubes? Waddya think they is? No, it's gravel! And they're always a little chill, too. Well, Hells man, I though it was interesting..."

(Some cubic gravel from Acheron, where the dirt follows different rules.)

Oops, gotta go.

- A cog that was once home to a gear spirit, the cog was left in a clock-makers shop and the next day the spirit was gone from the cog.
- Collector's 3rd edition Knights of Harmony recruitment poster with a drawing of Factol Sarin and his wife Faith on a rare visit to the gate-town of Tradegate. It's only valuable to a collector and a member of the Harmonium.
- Somewhat tarnished miniature silver lantern, only big enough to hold a candle that will burn for an hour or so. It's rumoured to be a special receptacle for transporting Lantern Archons, but best not to tell the Celestials in case they think it's used for kidnapping their Archons.
- Bytopian pebbles, when you place one on a flat surface the other can be suspended above it. The pebbles cannot bear any weights placed upon them and so they don't actually have any practical uses, the pebbles are supposedly from the opposite layers of Bytopia.
- Golden barely seeds from Elysium; the seeds are golden coloured and not actually made of gold. The seeds were harvested from a field in the realm of Tomeri shortly before she was slain by Tenebrous.
- Furry mask in the shape of a sloth. When worn and hanging upside down it makes the wearer feel somewhat lethargic and sleepy, it is in no way magical and does not allow the wearer to speak to sloths (who are very slow and boring conversationalists in general).
- Silk handkerchief from Arvandor, supposedly made form threads gathered when Lloth was still welcome in the Elven pantheon. The pattern on the handkerchief is that of a little elven girl smiling.
- Small slimming mirror, this is a small hand-mirror that makes the holder look slimmer than they actually are. It was rumoured that the mirror was dropped by a Valkyrie; however it's probably best not to question a Valkyrie about her figure.
- Digression seeds, when consumed they have the effect of causing the imbiber to ramble on and on from one topic to the next for a few minutes. Often the topics will not be related to what everyone else is talking about and the seeds can cause the tongue to swell a little and hence the imbiber's speech can sound as if they are mumbling.
- Dried cactus plant pod from the Abyss, it looks really ugly and it has a lingering smell of ammonia. Only really useful as emergency smelling salts.
- Key ring with half-keys on it, the useful end having been cut off. The key ring was sold as a child's toy on Carceri.
- A small grey butterfly pressed between the pages of a small grey book.
- Etched metal plate 2" by 2" that when moved at different angles in the light shows a series of volcanoes getting smaller and colder (or bigger and warmer if turned the opposite way). In magical dark it supposedly shows a 'loth's grin.
- Chain wig, used by judges in Dis. It's rather heavy and tends to get hair tangled in it.
- 1" rusty figurines of a wingless dragon consuming each other's tails.
- Sealed glass vial with a butterfly that morphs between the shape of a butterfly and a magic missile. If the glass is broken the butterfly/missile dissipates.

- Modron monocle, the lens was cracked when stepped on during the last Great Modron March.
- Travel chess set with pewter goblin and orc pieces. The set is incomplete and experienced players often find that when using the set they reach a stale-mate. The pieces are chipped and worn.
- Brick, supposedly taken from one of the roads through Avernus. The brick feels slightly warm and heavy, when placed near a source of fire it has been observed to cause small eruptions from the flame source at random intervals.
- Old piece of frayed rope, cut by a treacherous guide from Gehenna. The guide had an unfortunate accident afterwards and the frayed end still has specks of blood on it along with scratch marks.
- Grey rose pressed between the pages of a faded, little red book.
- String of beads with the names of the orbs of Carceri scratched in to them. The catch mechanism to secure the string of beads as a necklace is easy to secure but hard to get open.
- Hand-drawn portrait of a Cambion with a look of utter despair on his face with the inscription “Hero” written in flowing script underneath.
- Twisting shell that looks something like a cross between a snail’s shell and a sea creature’s shell. When placed against the ear it produces no sound although it does on occasion cause goose-bumps on the flesh.
- Little blue frog key ring, the little frog has a small mark on its forehead that has mostly worn away with the passage of time.
- Longboat in a bottle. Neither the bottle nor the boat is magical. The sail on the boat has a holly leaf insignia painted on to it.
- Wine drenched toga. No amount of washing will remove the wine stains, the seller told the story that the woman who wore the toga was drowned in a vat of wine by her drunken friends. The wine coloured toga can be worn as a rather fetching outfit as party-wear.
- Solidified Treant sap with figure made of sticks inside.
- Torn parchment with a map of two towns in Elysium, the road marked between the two town has the words “Do something nice today” writing in flowing script alongside it.
- Glass globe with a cottage inside it. When the globe is shaken an irritable little gnome figure emerges and shouts a litany of abuse in gnomish. If the globe is broken the small cottage can be recovered but no gnome will be found inside.
- Silver ski pole, rumoured to have been used in a record breaking attempt to descend Mount Celestia from the seventh to the first layer in the quickest possible time.
- Jar of Formian honey.
- Several sheets of precisely cut parchment with mathematical symbols scribed on to them. The modron symbols at the bottom identify it as a poem on the point at infinity.

- Wind up pocket watch whose face is painted with a small dwarven petitioner whose hands indicate the time. The watch is broken as a central cog is missing. When wound the watch only makes a repeating tock sounds and the arms do not move.
- Humanoid looking black statuette with indistinct features standing on a base with an archway with the number 3 inscribed at the top
- Little brass trumpet that when blown makes the sound of ‘blowing a raspberry’
- Fake gnomish beard.
- Wind chime made from song-shark teeth
- Dream-catcher made from wood. The string forms the pattern of feline eyes.
- Small portrait of a swan chasing a nude woman.
- Black stiletto with curving runes along the handle. The weapon is not magical and is designed for a slender hand.
- Song sheet for percussion instrument for a rather disturbing and aggravating beat that promises to build up to something interesting and does not deliver.
- Boa made from Vrock’s feathers, causes itching if worn against uncovered skin.
- Badly written poem railing against the unfaithfulness and treachery of those who deliver goods, especially post and dairy products.
- Grey stuffed toy in the shape of a bear.
- Small painting of a yugoloth concealed behind steam and ash venting from cracks in the ground. Most of the yugoloth’s features are indistinct except for the piercing eyes and the mocking smile. The painting is signed Monty.
- Fiendish dolls, a set of fiendish dolls made from wood that fit one inside the other. The dolls are fashioned in the shape of Baatezu.
- Two small scarred and chipped metal dice with a piece of string between them. A small tuft of pink fur still covers one of the cubes and there is a black dot on the fur.

These are all great, thanks everyone! I always find I get a lot more varied and creative stuff coming here than I would thinking stuff up myself.
