Message: <blockquote data-quote="IndyPendant" data-source="post: 2976515" data-attributes="member: 8738">Hi all.I'm looking for a good discman, and having (surprising, to me) trouble finding one that has all the features I'm looking for.  I thought I'd list them here, and see if anyone in this intelligent community knows of one that matches my needs.(Alternatively, a good website that reviews discmans, describes their features, and so on that I could use to do my own research would also be very useful.)Price is a low priority, though if I find more than one that meets my needs, I would probably choose the cheaper one.  It does not need to be an ubersportwaterproofabletodropfrom100feet discman; I have an mp3 player that I use for that purpose. : )  I also don't care in the slightest how the discman looks.  --Anyways, here's the list of requirements I'm looking for:1) Sound quality.  The music must sound reasonably good (though it does not need to be of professional sound system quality or anything), not skip while playing through reasonable use, that sort of thing.  (I'm talking about the discman itself here; the headphones can be crap, since I'll probably replace those anyways.)2) It needs to be able to play regular CDs, mp3's, and wma files.  Anything else (including radio) is optional.3) It needs to have a random song selection feature, and be able to play (and randomize) songs from a single folder, or that folder and all its subfolders, or the whole mp3 CD, at my option.4) It needs to be able to 'save' the settings I'm currently using in its memory, so that when I use it again after turning it off, it a) continues from the last point it stopped at, and b) uses the same settings (random, folder, etc) I had been using previously.5) It needs to use regular batteries.  I don't care what type of batteries or how long they last, so long as they are AA or AAA.  No wierd rechargables that chain me to the company please.  And on a similar vein, it can't have 'hidden' locked-in parts (for example, special head phones that have the digital display attached along their cord--so that if I want different headphones, I'm basically S.O.L.)6) It cannot be Sony.  I have a real hate-on for that company, and refuse to buy anything from it unless I have absolutely no choice whatsoever (and sometimes not even then).Please let me know if you know of anything that meets all those requirements.  And thanks.</blockquote>
