Following Nifft's general suggestions..... Possible feat choices: Level 1: Boost Construct (technically, it has no prerequisites, so yes, you can take it before you even have the Astral Construct power) Level 1 (Human bonus feat): Point Blank Shot Level 1 (Psion bonus feat): Psionic Shot Level 3: Expanded Knowledge (Astral Construct, from the Shaper Psion list) Level 5 (Psion bonus feat): Expanded Knowledge (Body Adjustment, from the Psychic Warrior list, so it would be 2nd-level and cost 3 power points) This build gives you the means to manifest effective Astral Constructs to fight for you, so you can focus many of your other 'powers known' choices on utility and defensive stuff. With Boost Construct, they get an extra ability from whatever menu they use (so a 3rd-level Astral Construct could have 2 abilities from Menu A, such as Improved Slam Attack and Power Attack, or Buff and Deflection). You also get some ranged attack power from this, to use with your Crystal Shard power and similar ones later on, as well as for crossbows if you ever need to bother with them. Maximize your Concentration skill ranks (8 ranks at 5th-level) and put a good score into Constitution, so your Concentration skill checks will be decent enough for regaining psionic focus (to use the Psionic Shot feat) and of course so you'll have better than 5d4 hit points. So.....32 point buy.....maybe Str 10, Dex 14, Con 16, Int 16, Wis 10, Cha 10 Then add +1 to a score for your 4th character level, so probably boosting Dex to 15 or Int to 17. With 8 ranks of Concentration that'll make it +11 total, a fair chance of getting psionic focus. You'll have 5d4+15 HP (or 4d4+19 if your 1st hit die is maximized, as normal). Your saving throw totals would be Fort +4, Ref +3, and Will +4. Your AC will be 12 (should probably learn Inertial Armor as a power, and Force Screen too, to boost your AC; don't bother augmenting them, 1 power point each is best). Your melee attack bonus will be +2, and ranged attack bonus will be +4 (+5 within 30 feet, with Point Blank Shot, but that only applies with ranged weapons, not ranged touch attacks, sadly). You'll have a total of 32 power points, and know 11 powers (2 of 3rd-level, 4 of 2nd-level, and 5 of 1st-level), in addition to the 2 powers from Expanded Knowledge feats. Possible Powers Known: 1st-Level: Astral Construct, Call to Mind, Crystal Shard, Force Screen, Inertial Armor, Psionic Grease 2nd-Level: Body Adjustment, Clairvoyant Sense, Energy Stun, Forced Sense Link, Psionic Tongues 3rd-Level: Dispel Psionics, Fate Link Your Astral Constructs (probably augmented to level 3, by spending 5 power points total on each AC manifestation) will pummel foes, and preferably you should have 2 foes Fate Linked by the second round, so they both take the damage dished out by your Astral Construct. You can then buff up with Inertial Armor and Force Screen if needed, or do some battlefield control with Psionic Grease and Energy Stun (don't forget that you can command your Astral Construct to bull rush an opponent into the area of the Psionic Grease, if you need to!). You can contribute damage when needed through Crystal Shard or Energy Stun (the latter is only for if the opponent is resistant to piercing damage or is susceptible to stunning, since ES does a bit less damage for its cost than CS does when augmented to the same cost). Whenever you get seriously hurt, you can heal yourself with Body Adjustment, and Dispel Psionics can take care of any troublesome powers or spells afflicting you or allies (or those protecting an opponent); remember the Magic-Psionics Transparency! Outside of battle, you can manifest Call to Mind to make awesome Knowledge skill checks and be a source of endless useful lore in-character. Psionic Grease can help move boulders or the like. Clairvoyant Sense will let you scout ahead safely and spy on enemies or questionable characters. Forced Sense Link may very well allow you to spy more covertly, by turning a passerby into an unsuspecting spy for you (since you'll be seeing or hearing whatever they see or hear). Psionic Tongues will let you communicate with anyone, and understand whatever it is you overhear (or read) through your Clairvoyant Sense or whatnot. You might replace Forced Sense Link though, since it fills a similar role to Clairvoyant Sense, replacing it with Object Reading, Psionic Knock, Psionic Identify, or Specified Energy Adaptation. Unfortunately, the psionic feats that boost save DCs are sucky and require expending psionic focus, which makes them terribly inefficient and limited in use. So I wouldn't expect them to be worth the investment just for an occasional +1 or +2 to the save DC of a power.
