I once played a sentient magic item controlling a human host body. Throughout the game's whole short run, none of the other players ever found out what was really going on with my character.

Wow thats just a cool idea for a character, care to share anymore info on him? How exactly did you go about stating him up?

Cheers,
E

How....how did they know it was a female?
Or do Mordenkainen's Magnificent Mansions come pre-built with genitalia and I just conveniently isolate that part of my memory because it's horrific to ponder?

If thats difficult to ponder then try Danny the Street of Doom Patrol fame - a transvestite no less!

I once played a Will'o'wisp rogue. I eventually got psion levels which helped immensely...

Talk to Rystil Arden. IIRC he ran a game once which featured a female awakened Mord's Mansion.
It was an intelligent Magic Item (a tent) with a Female persona that created a permanent Mordenkainen's Maginificent Mansion effect, except the Unseen Servants were replaced with avatars of the tent that performed the same tasks. I first posted about this in a thread asking "Where is your characters' home base" that was lost in the crash. The full explanation earned me my sig ;)

So to the others later who asked how you could tell she was female--now you know ;)

That idea is so stolen! We have a one-shot coming along soon, this is just the thing for that sort of campaign. Now for once I like that no other players in my group post here! :D

Jasin told me about the time he played an astral deva, who had a mortal supplicant whose purpose was to act as the conduit between the deva and the material plane.

Okay, so in raw mechanical terms he was playing a sorc who cast greater planar binding. But it's all about how you present it!

I saw you post about this in another thread, and I've wanted to steal the idea ever since...

Honestly? A Swarm of Bats Paladin sounds very cool. Not right for most campaigns, granted, but still very cool. Someday I want to run a D&D game where PCs are high concept characters like this. Or magic items, spectres of the past, etc.
