My understanding of the history of the area is rather small. We are rather new to this part of the game world. From my understanding this is the old historic stronghold of founders of the area. It is now ours. My character's lawful anal tendencies had them run through all of the legalities involved in making the property legally ours. I made sure that every i was dotted and every t was crossed. A few hundred years ago the inhabitants were killed by dragons and giants and rather than try to reclaim the keep, the family just relocated to the valley. A town of around 5000 has grown around that valley area and it is said that before the area hit on hard economic times the barrony was a predominant trade route. The original stratigic importance of the keep is not known to me. It must have some great importance that we have not uncovered yet. The keep is a rather small. Not much more than a 4 story building with no outer wall and no outer buildings yet. However, it is really well made. Several magical enhancements have been detected. As far as I can tell the keep does not allow teleportation within it's walls and it is built on both the prime material and the ethereal plane barring ethereal travel in and out. Pretty stout defenses for something that size. I have a feeling that there is something about this area that we have not found out yet.
