analysis. 2 level 3 char 1 level 4 char 100 unknown creatures mixed warriors, priests 1) Pcs infiltrate by donning cloaks 2) pc's find safe house from here anything can happen. As shown above, the creatures can send a messenger. The creatures can attempt another opening of one of the doors. First, the tower was made and obviously protected by powerful magics. SO, is the tower protected using offense or defense. If offense, have them see a guard trying a battering ram and a lightning bolt frying him to bits. If defensive, have the tower force a feed back as stated in one of the post. reflected spell returns to caster with no save damaging for 1d6/spell level used. IE dispel magic, level 3, does 3d6 damage to caster. have them find faded writing in the safe house, if they explore further. Show that the faded writing has been brushed and cleaned. Detect magic shows that there is magic on the walls. Read magic shows that the writing were magical in nature but not a spell or such. Comprehend languages might give the caster some idea of what it's saying since it's faded and broken (insert flavored text here, this place could have been a library or memorial). With 9 months for the creatures to search, we can be assured they were taking 20 in search. Which means we go to plan b. There has to be some sort of statues around the area. Most people who has detect magic on would gloss over anything that's already broken and on the floor and aged by the weather. Have it that one of the statue's head glows faint magic. upon inspection they find that the stone has eroded enough to reveal a gleam of metal, possibly a scroll case. It'll take them awhile to break it open with a chisel or something without making too much noise.
