Ok, so my wireless network connection has been playing up, it said that no network was in range, when my brother's lap top (which is a few feet away and has to go through a TV, not just a wall to get to the router to connect) has been getting an excellent signal strength. It isn't broken (if anything it's shafted) as I have switched from a USB stick to an 802.11 PCI card, and the USB stick was working in another computer. There are no settings I can change that make any difference. It isn't spyware/virus; I've checked the computer over with AVG and I have a Spyware blocker on active all the time. In short there is no reason that my connection shouldn't work! But it didn't, for a bout a day and a half. And not an hour ago it's back on, it just pick up my families network and started running. I have no sane idea why it should disconnect at random and then reconnect. My best guess is that is has to go through my computer to get to the router, but then the TV should block my brother's. The set up is that we have a Netgear Wireless Firewall Router DG834G connected to the phone line, and that sends a signal out for about 300 foot. Each of the computers (all laptops except mine) have a card that picks up the signal. Just as I was about to post it the connection died, so I've moved to a laptop. I can't get the connection going at all now, and just after being moved closer to the router it now won't turn on, I think the hard drive or motherboard is going.
