Multiple e-mails to Wizards of the Coast have met with no answer. Time to try elsewhere. I'm Chris Mathieu, probably best known as the creator of HeroForge, a character-sheet maker for Excel. Essentially, in my spare time, and without formal training in Visual Basic, Excel formulas, or programming — at least, without any certifications — I single-handedly created something that rivaled programs like PCGen and E-Tools. (In fact, the people at Fluid were shown my work as an example while they were coding the character-creation software). At one point, I was offered a licensing deal by WotC, but I made the mistake of putting it off. I had no idea how much material was going to come out, and regularly kick myself for saying no. While I'm not maintaining the current versions of HeroForge, most of what has been done is simply modifying my original work to account for the changes in the 3.5 revision and adding data from the various sourcebooks. It is still, essentially, my creation that people are using. I've been desperately seeking a decent line of work for the past year, and I would like to try to get into the game-design field. Writing that software gave me a level of understanding of the game mechanics, and the work that goes into creating it, that might measure up to the design staff and editors at Wizards. Why they haven't answered me is beyond me. If you are looking for someone to add to your staff, even if it's something fairly low on the pecking order, I want a chance to get involved in the industry. I NEED a good-paying job, something that I'll actually be proud to tell people about, as opposed to working some sales position for a store I never shop at. If you have an opening for me, or can create one, please drop me a line via e-mail. I will gladly send you a copy of my resume, but bear in mind that there is nothing in it that will support my request — if you've heard of HeroForge, though, you'll have an idea of what I can do with an RPG. EDIT: My e-mail address is in my profile, but I want to make sure you see it. Use either IProveMurphysLaw@aol.com or lonepaladin@gmail.com.
