Help Weaving a Character Concept into a Campaign

My group recently picked up two new players. I'm trying to work with them and make sure they have a good time. One of them decided that he'd like his PC to become a Dragon Disciple (ala Tome and Blood). I like prestige classes to have an in-game motivation, but I'm having a hard time with this one. The campaign is a heavily modified version of the Earthdawn world. It is set just as the first named races have left the caers. At this point, the only intellegent, non-corrupted life the PCs have met are a handul of centaurs and some degenerated humans. They've learned that a horror-tainted dragon is intent on dominating the world and have foiled the designs of some of his minions. At this point in the campaign, the PCs are exploring and looking for other named races, but they will eventually challenge this dragon's plot. Any ideas on working out a dragon disciple into this campaign?

In order to gain powerful (and subservient) allies, the dragon is "seeding" different parts of the world with cursed magical items that attach themselves to individuals and attempt to corrupt them. Those which accept the corruption gradually take on the half-dragon template and are impelled to seek out the dragon and serve its plots (treat as a combo suggestion/geas, perhaps). Those who resist the corruption are still gradually mutated by it, but more slowly (in this PC's case, the dragon disciple PrC). As they become more draconic, the corruptive force calls on them more strongly.

That's just a quick bare-bones idea, but gives you a way to introduce other dragon disciples, half-dragons (without needing a lot of horny dragons roaming the countryside), as well as give the PC some roleplaying opportunities and a lot of motivation to take down the dragon and its plans. Hope it helps.

How many other dragons are there in the world? Are all of them bad (corrupt)? Might another dragon be working against the corrupt dragon, and looking for "li'l helpers"?

Shilsen, that's genius, and it fits the setting. I think I'm going to steal your idea. Nifft, I hadn't considered having a good dragon oppose the big bad. Perhaps I'll have one assist our character in his quest to avoid corruption. Thanks for your both the ideas. I
