They have a strong connection to the fey and nature, either have them as trying to restore balance (helping PC) or in hindering the enemies of the fey.Final Idea is Gnomes are close to fey, you could use them as a base to make your own fey. possibly combine them with gremlin traits (beastiary 2)One more thing.
