Help with an Archivist

So, I'm making an Archivist to replace my poor, dead Halfling cleric (he was roasted by a Repeated, Empowered Fireball ) and I'm looking for some tips or suggestions.

The stats I rolled are: 18, 16, 14, 13, 13, 11. The character is going to start out at 11th level, and my DM is pretty open-minded about prestige classes. He has also ruled that the Archivist receives bonus spells dependent on his intelligence instead of wisdom !

The character concept is fairly loose at this point; a scholar/adventurer of some renown, like a mix between Indiana Jones and Giles from Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Try the hellbred race, it look really neat, although i've never used it. I think it's in the second hoards of the abyss book
